In July 1921, Popular Science covered a demonstration that sought to determine the effect of jazz (then “jungle music”) on animals in the Central Park Menagerie (now Zoo). Through the burgeoning field of zoo musicology, we’ve learned quite a bit over the last century about music’s effect on animals. Check out the full story in Popular Science‘s Spring Edition, Calm.
