Muse Magazine: When a Volcano Screams

Muse's October 2023 issue delves into volcanoes and our planet's hot core. From the daring life of volcano hunters, who went so far as to lower themselves into the steaming vents of unstable volcanoes to study them, to satellites, drones, and unmanned submersibles, volcanology has come a long way in the past century.

But did you know that volcanoes will emit a high-pitched scream before they erupt? My story, "When a Volcano Screams," describes how the technologies used to monitor volcanoes and predict eruptions continues to advance and may someday offer sufficient warning for anyone living in the shadow of an active cone.
